Description
The Florida State Flower is the Orange blossom, citrus sinensis. The orange blossom, like most citruses, is native to subtropical Southeast Asia. The orange blossom was designated the state flower on Nov.15, 1909. The orange blossom is one of the most fragrant flowers in Florida.
The blossom of the orange tree (Citrus sinensis) is one of the most fragrant flowers in Florida. Millions of these white flowers perfume the atmosphere throughout central and south Florida during orange blossom time.
It is predicted that it is native to some region of Asia. While the time and manner of its introduction to Europe is similarly mysterious, it is known that by 1646 the orange had become a popular edible fruit. Eventually, its blossoms acquired similary fame as an ingredient in teas, perfume, orange water, and honey.
