Description
I chose to name this image Glowing Tubes because of the multiple layers of petals that these wonderful Dahlia flowers produce. I always find these flowers quite fascinating that just one little seed can produce these pom pom like flower heads.
Dahlia flowers are native to Mexico, Central America and Colombia. The dahlia was declared the national flower of Mexico in 1963. The tubers were grown as a food crop by the Aztecs, but this use largely died out after the Spanish Conquest. Attempts to introduce the tubers as a food crop in Europe were unsuccessful.
